What is HATHA YOGA?

HA – sun, THA – moon

YOGA means:

taming – mastering the senses

connecting – building harmony within oneself, body and mind.

HATHA YOGA is a technology for modernizing and perfecting the mind and body to achieve their highest potential. Through physical exercises and ASANAS, yoga provides a means for self-development. It helps one gain knowledge of one’s true nature.

Yoga primarily aims to make one aware of the responsibility they bear for their life and health, and to learn how to take care of it themselves.

What is ASANA?

Yoga exercises are called asanas. These are static postures performed to reduce tension, strengthen the body, and increase flexibility. There are 84 basic asanas, with variations for beginners and advanced practitioners.

Where does HATHA YOGA come from?

Yoga is a traditional Indian system of recreation, healing, and education.

Hatha yoga is characterized by prolonged holding of a pose.

During practice, it is important to:

  • Be aware of your breathing. Synchronize your breathing with your movement.
  • Concentrate your attention. No matter how easy the pose is. Practicing with complete concentration is advanced yoga, practicing with distracted attention is beginner yoga.
  • Be gentle with yourself. Adjust the pose to make it comfortable. Use aids: blocks, straps, rollers, etc. are very helpful. Avoid pain and increased muscle tension.
